Decide These Three Things First
1. How many head you work
Under 50 head, a good manual chute handles the work. Past 150 head, or with only one person working cattle, hydraulic starts to make sense.
2. Fixed or portable
A fixed system at the barn costs less per foot. A portable system with a trailer kit works cattle on rented ground and at more than one farm.
3. What you do in the chute
Vaccinating and tagging need a headgate and side access. Pregnancy checking and AI need a palpation cage. Hoof work and bulls need a longer, heavier chute.

Common Questions
How much should I spend on a squeeze chute?
For a small cow-calf herd, most buyers land between $4,000 and $8,000 for a new manual chute. Heavier manual chutes with rubber floors and longer warranties run $8,000 to $15,000.
Is a used squeeze chute worth buying?
Older manual chutes sell for about $1,300 to $3,200 on classifieds. Newer premium manual and hydraulic chutes sell used for $7,500 to $16,000. Check the headgate latch, squeeze locks and floor before buying.
Where do these prices come from?
Manufacturer pages and dealer and retailer listings, including Tractor Supply, Farm and Ranch Store, Howard Stores, Ackerman’s and Salt Creek’s published price list. Each page shows when prices were last checked.
Do prices include delivery?
No. Freight is extra on nearly all chutes and systems, and a chute can weigh 1,000 to 4,000 pounds.
